A Trip to the North Georgia Mountains (and Rivers)

With the kids, the dog, 9 fish and enough electronic equipment to supply a small start-up business all packed in the van, we headed to the lake for the month of July.  Less than 24 hours later, we were driving back home with heavy hearts and questions like, “Now, what are we gonna do?” Ah, the woes of an ancient lake house and an even older septic tank.

Thanks to the quick thinking and planning of my dear friend Kristin, we were off on a new adventure to the North Georgia Mountains.

The cabin was a fabulous and fit 3 adults and 5 kids beautifully.  With a river in the back yard and a bunch of tubes, we had a blast!  We hiked, tubed, hiked some more, fished, tubed some more, geocached, and saw a part of Georgia that we’d never seen before.  It was a success, except for the 2 flat tires and a bee sting.

So we went to Disney…

The kids start school real early (typically the first Monday of August).  So by the time mid-September rolls around, they are ready for a break.  With a near ‘year-round’ school year, we are bless with “Fall Break”.  One would think that places like Disney World would be less crowded.  Apparently, not.  I swear it’s like taking our entire county and plopping it smack dab in the middle of Magic Kingdom.  Neighbors that live down the street, of whom I’ve not seen in years, were right behind us in line to ride Peter Pan.  The kids ran into their school principal, at Space Mountain.  It was bazaar… And HOT.  But, I think we had fun.

We arrived and went straight to the pool. The Polynesian was the perfect spot for the kids.

We could have planned the "rides" a little better, but for some of us, the Tower of Terror did not disappoint!

Epcot. Overcast and a lot of walking, but fun nevertheless.
